An interactive session on puzzle-making and developing children’s thinking and concentration skills at the headquarters of Al-Muta’min Oasis, “Al-Ihsan Village”

The Counseling and Psychological Support Unit, as part of the Oasis of the Reassured program, held an event at the Oasis of the Reassured headquarters “Al-Ihsan Village” in Kafr Jalis, Idlib, Syria. The session aimed to enhance children’s concentration and attention and develop their problem-solving and logical thinking skills through an activity involving the creation and assembly of puzzles in an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and interaction.

The session began with welcoming the children, followed by an opening icebreaker activity in which they discussed their favorite games and games that require thinking and problem-solving. The children’s answers were then linked to the session’s theme, and the importance of puzzles in developing patience, critical thinking, and cooperation was emphasized.

The steps of the activity were explained to the children in simple terms, and each group created its own puzzle using a variety of age-appropriate images, as well as cardboard, safety scissors, colored pencils, and glue. A finished sample was also displayed to encourage the children’s creativity and participation.

During the activity, the children showed obvious enthusiasm as they cut out and prepared the pieces. They then exchanged the puzzles with one another and tried to put them back together, demonstrating a spirit of cooperation and support as they helped each other find the right pieces and complete the pictures.

The activity also helped relieve tension and stress in a fun way, and boosted the children’s sense of accomplishment and self-confidence after they successfully completed the puzzle in an atmosphere of joy and encouragement.

At the end of the session, a brief discussion took place during which the children expressed their happiness and how much they had benefited from the activity, emphasizing that the experience had helped them focus and think more clearly. The session concluded on a positive note, filled with fun.

These activities are part of the Oasis of Peace program and are made possible by the generous support of the Gift of the Givers Syria Foundation.
